DIVE Nomination Form

    The Diversity and Inclusion Visit Experience (DIVE) is an all-expenses-paid, tailored introduction to the liberal arts and residential campus life at Washington and Lee University with an emphasis on the diverse voices and experiences of our students. The program is open to high school seniors (Class of 2025) and gap year students who will be entering first-year students in Fall 2025. Students who are best served by this program will fall into one or more of the following categories:
    • Self-identified student of color (Black or African-American, Latinx, Native American, and/or Asian)
    • Students who work with a Community-Based Organization designed to increase access to college education for underserved and/or underrepresented communities 
    • Qualify for free or reduced lunch 
    • Eligible for the Pell Grant or the W&L Promise
    • DACA or undocumented
    • First-generation college-going
    • QuestBridge-affiliated students 
    We are excited to review your students’ DIVE applications! W&L is test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle. As such, the DIVE application is also test-optional.

    We will ask for the following materials in the application:
    • Unofficial transcript (including grades 9-11)
    • Proposed senior course list
    • Activities list or resume which can include including employment, clubs, sports, and family responsibilities
    • Optional: self-reported test scores (SAT, ACT, PSAT, pre-ACT)
    • Optional: school profile 
    Our Fall 2024 DIVE programs will take place September 22-24 and September 29-October 1.. Students may indicate their date preference in their application, and those invited to participate will hosted on-campus for the duration of the event. An invitation to DIVE is not an indication of future admission and those not invited to DIVE are still welcome to apply for admission to W&L.
